0bamaphone, redux

ERV, often unintentionally funny, does it again...

What I mean is, my last phone was a Blackberry Pearl.  Yeah.  I got it 2008-ish, I think.  Ive never had a smartphone, because I couldnt afford it.  The Blackberry worked, my cell bill is like $20 added on as a family line to my parents bill.  Compare that to the the cost of the new smartphones, plus somewhere up to $100 a month for a data plan? No thank you.

But my Blackberry is finally dying (NOOOO!), there are lots of alternative options to traditional overpriced phone plans (T-mobile $30, Straight Talk $45), thanks to Obamacare Im not paying for birth control every month now, and the Nexus 4 was coming out.  A high-end phone at a relatively low price ($299 vs its $550 ATT Optimus G counterpart), that gets upgrades straight from Google.

So I got one.

So, since you and I are now responsible for paying for this unmarried student's birth control pill habit, she now has the wherewithal to get herself a top-of-the-line phone (only $300!??!? Tell me more about this fantastic deal!!!) with a data plan.

Meanwhile, my employer dropped the family healthcare plan that I favored and reduced my options to precisely two, my commute is now at least twice as expensive as it was four years ago, and I have a $20 TV I got from Craigslist, no cable TV, and the barebones cell phone family plan. And when I want condoms, I buy them myself.

But hey, ERV, glad I could help you out with that. Enjoy.

0bama's continuation and furthering of Dubya's wrongheaded policies show me he's not interested in change at all, for one thing. And thus he's a liar. And "saving" the car industry and fat cat bankers is not "change" either - it's continued pandering to his fat cat lobbyist and union friends.

But he's gone way further than that, with his $800 billion "stimulus" pkg, and his continued insistence on the public option health insurance. Terrible idea.

What is about liberals and confusing generous, charitable donations with higher taxes? I see it everywhere I turn. Biden was talking about this during the VP debate and I couldn't believe how stupid he was to say it.

More importantly, if the gov't forces me to pay more taxes to pay for 0bamacare, there is not even the opportunity for charity, for love, for neighborliness (as Biden is fond of saying). Forced "charity" is not charity at all. If I don't pay my taxes, all of them, the IRS will try to force my employer to garnish wages. If I get around that, they'll send the police to arrest me. If I resist them, they'll have authority even to kill me! It has nothing to do with Xtian love or moral obligation.

Is it really too much to ask that a man like the President, if he claims to be a Christian and trumpets it when he can, could get at least the most basic of beliefs correct? No need to "bathe" me; just show some evidence you know what you're talking about. Just a little.

But as you probably could tell from the last election results, others can.

Rick Warren, while by no means a great thinker or great man, would be a hell of a lot better President than 0bama.

My image of a politician, anyway, is a slimeball who virtually always lies, in order to get re-elected. My vision of what he SHOULD be, however, comes from the Constitution.

And an invocation is a (worthless) tradition service; it's not his inauguration or anything of any value or that would give any insight to the man's actual character.

You probably didn't know that all my ancestors were members of the KKK, including my parents. My 3-yr-old daughter has already set fire (voluntarily) to all the dolls she had that had skin that wasn't perfect lily-white. I'm a proud papa.

I didn't like Dubya either. Or Clinton. But 0bama's policies are much worse than either.

And he's black. Did I mention that?

You mean his constant covering-up of his relationship with Bill Ayers and ACORN? And his evident 20-year-old agreement with Jeremiah Wright and subsequent "I don't even know that guy"s?

And the fact that he's black? Already, that's a terrible example. I can't stomach the fact that my children will see a black person in a position of authority and think that could be acceptable or OK.

I was watching in horror, watching CBS’ coverage of Ebenezer Baptist Church and then later at Howard University, as otherwise-certainly-reasonable and distinguished African-American adults were reduced to tears and near ecstasy at every 0bama electoral vote. I refuse to be fixated on race. The widespread focus on it seems to me a backhanded admission that race actually means sthg, and that is latent racism to me. I don’t care one iota that the man is black. He’s not black, anyway, he’s as much white as he is black; you won’t see me celebrating the election of a white man as President.

Liberal mouthpiece for the New Baptist Covenant, the Mainstream Baptist, has put this bumper sticker up at his blog and termed it a "A Thought Provoking Bumper Sticker".

So let us let it provoke some thoughts.
1) Jesus never ran for political office.

2) There are good governors and bad governors. Pick one - whom does Prescott like? Dukakis? Schwarzenegger? Grey-out Davis? It's a double-edged sword. The sticker kicks dirt on all governors.

3) There are good and bad community organisers. Martin Luther King, Jr. David Duke. Osama bin Laden. The point is obvious - it's not the office but the person who is relevant. And yes, I'll take Palin a thousand times out of a thousand over Oblahma.

4) I'm not the 1st to say this, but it strikes me as very odd that Oblahma is spending all this time comparing his experience to Palin. Much as I might wish Palin were heading the ticket, she's not. Against just whom is he running here? Is he the veep candidate?
I guess the Oblahma campaign thinks the voter is too stupid to see the smokescreen - attack Palin's paucity of experience in order to blunt the McWhatsHisName campaign's attacks on the same towards Oblahma.

5) Let the record show yet another Obamessianic reference. It is truly, truly sad.

6) What Jesus did was of course nothing like what Oblahma did. Further, it was far from His primary, secondary, or tertiary goals in His earthly ministry.
But such should be expected, considering the source. Oblahma's church of 20 yrs has fed him a steady diet of Liberation Theology, which is almost wholly political and this-world-centered. Sin? Justification of an unworthy, dirty sinner before a holy God? Atonement? Adoption by a loving God of enemies of His to become, rather, His children? These are foreign concepts to the Liberation Theologian.

7) The community organiser/governor thing is all about executive experience. Pilate had it. Jesus had it too. While it's true He was a community organiser of sorts, He is the very God of the universe.

And then, take a look at the combox, where Jeff the Baptist said:

The bumpers sticker is funny, but when Jesus was offered all power and authority on Earth he refused it. I don't see anyone at the top of either ticket who would make that choice.

1) Yes, Christ refused it because Satan was the one doing the offering. Does Jeff the Baptist deny, then, that Christ WILL have all power and authority in the future? He could take it any time He wanted, but His incarnation, suffering, death, and resurrection were part of the plan to redeem people for His own possession. That part is complete. The next coming of Jesus will be to do precisely that - to claim all power and authority, visibly, totally, finally, and completely.
2) Jeff the Baptist is complaining about human candidates for a powerful political office. Hopefully he will put all his trust in God, rather than in politics, overcoming the temptation that is so common to conservatives and libs alike, though that temptation is expressed in different ways.
